Another freelance project I worked on was for a local restaurant, where I helped design a menu. The process involved consistent communication with the client as we refined their vision, balancing their ideas with design principles that would effectively showcase the restaurant’s brand. Through multiple revisions, I learned to interpret their feedback and translate it into a cohesive design that highlighted the restaurant’s personality while maintaining professionalism. The collaboration underscored how design can function as a visual extension of a business’s values and showcase how a restaurant carries itself.

This project also became an important lesson in client relations and the business side of freelance work. Meeting the client for the first time gave me experience in discussing expectations face to face. Listening closely, taking detailed notes, and clarifying their goals for the project. It was my first time formally negotiating pay and learning how to value my time and creative effort. I also created my first professional invoice to track payments and maintain clear records of the work completed, which helped me understand how to stay organized and communicate transparently about finances. Overall, the experience taught me the importance of professionalism, communication, and structure when collaborating with clients in a creative setting.
