For my typography class in college, I was asked to create a restaurant menu using Adobe InDesign. The project was designed to help me understand how typography, hierarchy, and layout work together to shape the way information is read and experienced.
I explored different typefaces and learned how font choice can set the tone of a menu while still keeping everything readable. Building hierarchy was a major focus of the assignment. I had to decide how to separate item names, descriptions, and prices so the viewer naturally understands the order of importance.
Layout design played an equally important role. Working with grids, alignment, margins, and spacing showed me how a well organized layout can make a menu feel balanced and easier to navigate. By completing this project, I gained hands on experience in applying core typography principles while using InDesign to produce a clean, professional menu design.
